Tihanyi’s Invocations at the outset of a long journey
Eight Invocations to the Lunar Phases, a cycle for viola and piano by László Tihanyi, was published by EMB in 2001, but remained unperformed until now. Eight Invocations will see its world premiere in Florence’s Teatro Della Pergola on 15th November, and the Hungarian premiere will follow by nine days. In spring 2015 the piece will be performed several times in the US at distinguished venues such as the Morgan Library in New York and the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, where Béla Bartók and József Szigeti gave a recital in 1940. A performance in Istanbul is pending.
