UMP Classics & Screen is committed to environmental sustainability, and as part of Universal Music Group, collaborating to measure and improve our environmental impacts and leverage our cultural platform to motivate others to take action. Some of our impact areas include:
Better printing
Our commitment to the environment starts with choosing sustainable materials for printing and production. 100% of our scores are printed with paper and cardboard certified by both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the EU Ecolabel. This ensures that materials come from responsibly managed, FSC-certified forests and that manufacturing processes respect strict criteria promoting energy efficiency to reduce air and water emissions. Beyond that, we use vegetable-based inks, further reducing the environmental impact of our production. We work with suppliers who share our vision of sustainability, ensuring that every product we distribute meets high ecological standards.
Better shipping
To minimize the impact of transportation, we adopt best in class distribution practices. We have an agreement with our partner DHL certifying all shipments with "DHL Go Green Platinum", which includes shipping solutions using eco-fuels and e-mobility where active. We always strive to optimize shipping routes, and to use low emission means of transportation. We also encourage the use of digital formats, such as those offered by our partners
nkoda and
newzik, which reduce the need for physical production and contribute to a more sustainable future for the music industry.
Better buildings
We are committed to sustainability by investing in state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly office buildings around the globe. This includes our new office in Milan which is certified Platinum according to the LEED & WELL frameworks. It is among the top 2% of the most sustainable buildings in Italy. Our award-winning UK office also consumes significantly less gas and electricity compared to other buildings of its size and runs on 100% renewable energy. The site's ecology features a large moorland housing 37 indigenous plant species and large ponds. The office building received the BREEAM 2014 award for ‘Outstanding’ accreditation.

More awareness
All our music is reused over and over again. The very idea of music on hire is a green idea. With a disclaimer printed on each score, we ask our customers to return the material in the best possible condition, marked only in pencil.
Our vision
We believe in an aware and active community in the fight against climate change. We are excited about contributing to a more sustainable future and doing our part to protect the planet, through music.
