Hersant's triple concerto for Trio Wanderer
Chant de l'isolé is a triple concerto for piano, violin, cello, and string orchestra commissioned by the orchestras of Pau Pays de Béarn, Bordeaux, and Poitou-Charentes and written for the Trio Wanderer.
The title refers to one of the last poems of Austrian author Georg Trakl, Gesang des Abgeschiedenen, a poem written one century ago in April 1914 that seemed to foreshadow the disaster that was to strike Europe when war broke out weeks later.
The world premiere of Chant de l'isolé will take place in Pau, France, on March 27 with Trio Wanderer and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Pau Pays de Béarn, conducted by Fayçal Karoui (Photo: Marco Borggreve).
