Hersant: Au temps du rêve

Ensemble Contemporain of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional, conducted by Xavier Delette, will perform the world premiere of Au temps du rêve by Philippe Hersant in Paris on April 11.

The piece was written while Philippe Hersant was still composing his flute concerto, Dreamtime, and that is why the composer gave the same title to both pieces: one in English, the other in French. They have in common a small pentatonic melody used as a main theme that evolves in very different ways.

"Au temps du rêve is part of a series of works inspired by Australian aboriginal myths which I discovered through the book of Bruce Chatwin, The Songlines, and though several exhibitions I visited of aboriginal paintings, among which one at the Musée des Arts here in Paris last year.” (Philippe Hersant)
