Sergej Newski awarded Berlin Art Prize

Russian-born composer Sergej Newski will receive the Berlin Art Prize for Music in 2014. It is awarded to honour artistic achievement and to promote creative work. The award ceremony takes place on March 18.

The Akademie der Künste has been awarding the “Berlin Art Prize – Jubilee Foundation 1848/1948” on behalf of the Federal State of Berlin since 1971. The prize was donated by the Berlin Senate to commemorate the March Revolution of 1848. Past award winners include György Kurtág, Enno Poppe, Wolfgang Rihm, and Mathias Spahlinger.
