Oscar Bianchi: collaboration with Gewandhausorchester

The German musical scene has never been afraid of combining the glories of the past with the latest trends. This September, the Gewandhausorchester, a historical institution already in existence when Mozart was born, will perform a new piece by Oscar Bianchi, born in 1975, one of the most high-profile emerging composers of the younger generation.

The double concerto, entitled Oneness, was composed for Sabine Meyer's clarinet and her brother Wolfgang's basset horn. If one adds the astonishingly mature baton of the young Maestro Pablo Heras-Casado (b. 1977) it will be clear why September 12 and 13 will be special days in the musical life of Leipzig this season. Oneness will be followed in the coming seasons with another composition by Oscar Bianchi for the Gewandhausorchester and its GMD Maestro Chailly.
