Olga Neuwirth's American Lulu - a new interpretation of Alban Berg's Lulu including a newly composed third act - had its world premiere only last September at the Komische Oper Berlin. Nonetheless, the work already has had a new production by director John Fulljames and his London-based Opera Group. Accompanied by the London Sinfonietta conducted by Gerry Cornelius, Angel Blue sung the title role, "a sensational choice" according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The production debuted at the Bregenz Festival on August 16 before going on to the Edinburgh Festival and then to London for a premiere at the Old Vic on September 13.
