On October 19, Luca Francesconi will complete his residency in Porto, Portugal, with the world premiere of his second piano concerto.

About the new work Francesconi says: "It is an exploration of the heart of percussion with its African connections: needless to say, via my love of jazz. For me, the piano continues to evoke a state of essential purity tied to an elemental force that simply can't be suppressed."

Pianist Nicolas Hodges and the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto under the direction of Jonathan Stockhammer will perform the premiere.
