The 2013 Premio Feltrinelli per la Musica has been awarded to composer Fabio Nieder. The Feltrinelli prize is a highly prestigious award that in the past has been bestowed on artists such as Perosi, Stravinsky and Sciarrino. The award ceremony will take place on November 8 at the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome.

"What do I think it represents for me? Above all I see it as a recognition of my originality...the originality of my training, my being very far from schools of music.... I came from an anomalous background. I spoke in another language, to use a metaphor," Nieder observed in an interview with Roberto Dedenaro in Il Piccolo.
