One of the most extraordinary events of this year's Salzburg Festival is set to take place on August 24 at the Mozarteum Salzburg under the title Beyond Recall: Art Project Salzburg. The Berlin-based Scharoun Ensemble will be premiering a total of twelve new compositions for voice and ensemble under the direction of composer/conductor Matthias Pintscher, works which together coalesce into a unitary work of art greater than the sum of its parts. The sculptures serving as the points of departure for the works were created for the public space of Salzburg as part of of the Art Project Salzburg by such renowned artists as Marina Abramovic, Anselm Kiefer, James Turrell, Mario Merz, Markus Lüpertz, Christian Boltanski and Erwin Wurm.
