Ricordi Berlin enriches its roster by signing Georg Friedrich Haas and Bernhard Lang, two highly renowned composers of international acclaim.

Biography
  • Born in Graz, Austria, in 1953
  • Studied composition with Gösta Neuwirth and Friedrich Cerha
  • Received numerous composition awards, including the Grand Austrian State Prize
  • Performed by Berlin Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and many others
  • Takes the aesthetic freedom of American composers such as Charles Ives, John Cage and James Tenney as an important point of reference
  • Lives in New York, where he is Professor of Music at Columbia University
  • Upcoming works: new orchestra piece for Berlin Philharmonic, Release for ensemble, to be performed by the Ensemble Resonanz at the opening of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg; new violin concerto composed for Miranda Cuckson

    Biography
  • Born in Linz, Austria, in 1957
  • Studied composition, piano, jazz theory, harmony theory, philosophy and German studies in Graz
  • Worked with various Jazz bands between 1977 and 1981
  • Was composer-in-residence at Staatskapelle Dresden
  • Received commissions from Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Berlin), Theater an der Wien (Vienna), Opéra Bastille (Paris) and many other theatres, festivals, orchestras and ensembles
  • His music has been performed by, among others, conductors Fabio Luisi and Sylvain Cambreling, orchestras including Staatskapelle Dresden, SWR Sinfonieorchester and Wiener Symphoniker and ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Argento and Phace.
  • Bernhard Lang’s compositions are featured regularly at major festivals in Europe and the US, including Moving Sounds (New York), Resistance Fluctuations (Los Angeles) and Salzburger Festspiele
