Franceschini: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Alice au pays des merveilles (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), Matteo Franceschini’s latest opera for 5 singers, boys’ choir, actors and orchestra, will be premiere on May 28 at the Philharmonie in Paris. The adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s novel has been realised by Edouard Signolet, who will also direct the production. Jean Deroyer will conduct the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France, which, with the Philharmonie, co-commissioned the opera. The singers (2 sopranos, a contralto, a tenor, and a baritone) interpret a range of roles. The boys’ choir, which has a substantial part to play, is made up of young boys coming from the schools in Paris, all carefully selected during the school year, in line with a process which was already in place by the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France’.
