Pomàrico conducts premiere of Aperghis’ accordion concerto
The accordion has long been underestimated in contemporary music before coming back to the scene thanks to composers like Luciano Berio or Mauricio Kagel. Most recently, Georges Aperghis has written a concerto for accordion, commissioned by the musica viva festival (Munich) and Casa da Música Porto, in which popular sounds and experimental effects create a dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra. Emilio Pomàrico, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and soloist Teodoro Anzellotti will perform the world premiere in Munich on February 26.
