Posadas: Tres pinturas imaginarias
Composer Alberto Posadas continues his work with visual art, in a new piece entitled Tres pinturas imaginarias, which will be premiered on June 20 at the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris) by Ensemble Court-Circuit during the festival Manifeste (Ircam).
By committing to a work with three movements, an unusual form for the composer, Alberto Posadas examined three different painting techniques – the sfumato of Leonard de Vinci, the neo-plasticism of Mondrian, and the tachism of Wols – which inspired him to find new sonic material and experiment with new compositional techniques.
In this interview, the composer presents us with different sources of inspiration, and their effects on his writing.
