Colasanti: World Premiere in Aldersbach
Lyricism is the lifeblood that flows through Silvia Colasanti's new work for cello and string orchestra, Adagio, a piece dedicated to the cellist David Geringas and commissioned by the Festspiele Europäische Wochen Passau, the 61st edition of which takes place this year. In Adagio, the classical ternary form offers space for moments of great virtuosity on the part of the soloist. These are based on the intense expressiveness of the sound of the cello that emerges with an elegiac tone out of the massed sonorities of the orchestra. The world premiere is scheduled for July 4 at Aldersbach, with the Brünner Philarmoniker conducted by Caspar Richter.
A few days later on July 16 the Finnish premiere of her work To Muddy Death. Ofelia will be presented at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival.
