Adam Schoenberg: world premiere in LA
Adam Schoenberg will see the premiere of his latest orchestra work Bounce at the Aspen Music Festival and School on July 10. The inspiration for this joyful piece came from the impending birth of his first child, who is expected to arrive in August. Co-commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Bounce will be performed in the Hollywood Bowl in September. Conductors will be Schoenberg mentor Robert Spano in Aspen and Miguel Harth-Bedoya in Los Angeles.
Originally planned as a ballet, it is full of positive energy with happy leaps over a firm ostinato running through the entire 10-minute piece. As an homage to Stravinsky's Rite of Spring in its centenary year, Adam also wrote a version for two pianos.
